Infected by Art #4

I have just entered the annual contest to be in the book "Infected By Art #4." My entries are a mixture of old and new pieces that have not been published yet. If you'd like to see the work (including my newest piece, "Vespiary") you can follow the link below.

The public can join the site and vote for art they like starting on December 7, 2015.
If you see something you like please vote for it!

The picture above is new art that was also entered in a recent contest on Infected By Art. This is mixed media, an acrylic painting with photography and digital work in Photoshop.

Delicious Dolls Heating up your Winter!

The newest edition of Delicious Dolls magazine, (the November Spicy edition, that features nudity) includes a few pictures I shot, while in Kansas City, of model Rose Ballentine. Rose was a pleasure to work with, I was really pleased with the results and it seems, so was Delicious Dolls Magazine. You can find our work on page 49.

Rose was also very daring and scared the hell out of me when she climbed up on the ironing board near the window! But daring models make great pictures…

Spectrum Fantastic Art Live Sketch

While exhibiting at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live this year we were all informed that Award-winning Illustrator, Concept Artist, Writer, Husband and Father of two Allen Williams could not attend for reasons he had posted on Facebook.

"I feel a little like I'm naming Voldemort here but...I need to say I have recently been diagnosed with HPV related squamous cell carcinoma.  The two-month cure will surely be hard, but it will be the cure that causes difficulty, not the actual disease...somehow, I just have to get through this gate of fire."

We were all asked to contribute a drawing in a sketchbook (that expanded to 2) passed around the show to be auctioned off to help pay his medical bills. Between that and a (since closed) Go Fund Me page, over $50,000 was raised.

I'm sure more money wouldn't hurt, so discover Allen's website and blog and buy yourself some art:

A photo of my sketch can be seen on one of the Spectrum Facebook links showing the books pages (link above). Go to the Facebook page to see some of the other artist's sketches.

U.S. Air Force Painting online

While looking around on the internet I discovered an old painting of mine in the collection of the U.S. Air Force. I painted this oil and acrylic on canvas many years ago while I was a member of the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators. I painted this shortly after graduating from CSU Long Beach with a degree in Illustration.

Zombie Circus Review at Zombies and Toys

Reviewer Matt Boiselle at the website Zombies And Toys (zombiesandtoys.com) has posted a very favorable review of my book "Zombie Circus" on their site. So go on over there and see what he has to say. While you're there have a look around and catch up on all things zombie and then go buy one of my books!

Mike Vosburg's Mad Mummy #6

One of the many great things about attending artist William Stout's Sunday life drawing workshop was meeting and getting to know some of the best artists in the business. Mike is one of those artists. Probably best known for drawing the comic covers for HBO's show "Tales From The Crypt," Mike has had a long and varied career as an artist. His newest comic is called "The Mad Mummy" and like his other books "Lori Lovecraft" and "Retrowood" it's a joy to read (and look at). Mike was nice enough to include a two page story by author Christopher M. Faulkner that I illustrated called "Reap What You Sow" in issue #6! He also added a short bio (for both of us) and some other samples of my work.

See the links below for more information about Mike and Christopher and go get yourself a copy! In fact buy all Mike's books, you won't be sorry.

Freque Magazine Blood Issue!

Some of my photos of model Necrowolfie in a bloody refrigerator are in the May issue of Freque Magazine. Our stove and fridge in our California house went out at the same time so I had Wolfie come over and put them to good use! Wolfie was always perfect for helping me realize my strange and beautiful (she was the beautiful part) ideas. And you should have seen the looks on the faces of the guys that came to get the old appliances! Get your copy at the link below. Sadly it's the magazine's last issue.

Joss Stone Cover Contest

I've fallen behind in my posts so lots of news today.

Singer Joss Stone had a cover contest for her new, recently released album, and since I'm a fan I decided to enter. And no I didn't win, but I'm sharing my entries here anyway. Turns out they did help me work out a problem I was having with another piece of art I've been working on.

I was working with the idea of gasping for breath, like when singing or emerging from water.
