Graphis Journal Issue #359 (Pre-Order)

I was recently asked to provide a testimonial for the Brazilian photographer Ricardo de Vicq de Cumptich (we shared a page in the 2017 Graphis Photography Annual), that, along with other testimonials and a review of his work can be found in the Graphis Journal Issue #359, now available for preorder.

And because it's Graphis you'll also find a number of other talented artists and photographers in this publication.

The Graphis Photography Annual for 2018 is now available. My digital photographic art "Vespiary" won gold this year and can be found on page 77 in the book. And model Necrowolfie can be seen in the original photo below. Follow the link below the picture to get a copy of your very own!

Graphic Design USA Cover Contest 2018

For their October issue Graphic Design USA Magazine had a cover contest. The winner(s) were to be printed and added to the regular cover of the October print issue. I decided to create a cover (or two) to submit and while I didn't win I did get an Honorable Mention and you can see my submission, listed as "Midnight Stroll" at the GDUSA site at the link below. Below you can also see a sketch for the original painting.

San Diego Comic Con 2018

As soon as I got my cast off my arm in March I started a painting. For the 200th anniversary of the novel Frankenstein I show the Monster (30's Universal version) reading a first edition copy of Mary Shelley's book, Frankenstein. It is my third "baseball card" in a row in the Comic Con Souvenir Book and can be seen on page 232. Besides the publication, I also had a good time seeing a number of talented artists and writers. Also, for the first time in many years I only attended for three days, Wednesday to Friday. I was staying out at Hotel Circle and taking the shuttle. You can see my Frankenstein art below.

New 3x3 Illustration Directory 2018

The newest edition of the 3x3 Illustration Directory is available. My art, "Dark Fairy" (featuring Texas model Emma Anne) can be found in the figurative section of the book and site (or by following the link below.)
All Art Directors and Art Buyers can get a digital or print copy by visiting the 3x3 illustration Directory website. 3x3's directory provides a wonderful source to those who hire illustrators.

Vespiary wins 2018 Graphis Gold.

I was recently informed by Graphis that my art "Vespiary" won a gold award and will be included in the Graphis Photography Annual 2018, to be published later this year. This is the second year in a row that I have been included in the Photography Annual. I'll post more details when the book is released.

New Joelle Jones Print!

I decided when I started printing silkscreens again (it was almost 3 years since I had printed) that I wanted to work with some other artists, making their work available as fine art prints. I was thrilled when the first artist that was willing to work with me was the talented Joelle Jones! Joelle first came to my attention as the artist behind the comic "Lady Killer," published by Dark Horse Comics. A dark, entertainingly written, beautifully drawn book that's just my cup of tea. If you haven't seen it yet I suggest you get yourself a copy, then go look for all her other work (she's illustrating Batman now for DC!)

The picture I printed for Joelle is an 11x14, three color, cropped version of the cover for Lady Killer vol. 2 number 3. (see the link below) There are only a total of 40 prints, (30 regular, 5 Artists proofs and 5 Printer's proofs) and you can only get them from me (just a few copies left) or Joelle. She tells me these will be a convention only print, so check out her social media to find out the next place she'll be making a personal appearance and let her know you want one.

Exhibiting at Border Town Comic Con

I'll be exhibiting at the Border Town Comic Con in Oregon next weekend. Late notice because I just got a cast off my arm and can finally (sort of) use it again. I'll have Zombie Circus books, 6x6 comics, prints, posters and more for sale. I'll also have some free stuff, so stop by while you're at the convention.

Here's the information for attending the show:

Sunday, March 18th   10:00 am to 5:00 pm
